Well, the year has been quite interesting and the adventures new. I have split my time between many different artists and projects. Working with Ward Davis more this year, Isaac Rudd and the Revolvers, Derek Jones and the 50 South, Kelli Yates and a few others. Lessons were taught both by me and to me. Sessions were had and songs were written. I still have a few dates left this year but it felt like a good time to reflect. I have been working on this "thing" for a few years now. Growing my business and brand. Some of my fellow musicians may see the language as too “suit” but it is the music BUSINESS after all. The pressures are the same as any other startup.
In this fast paced and growing musical landscape, we have to be the picturesque creator. Well-rounded, full spectrum. my 13 year old self had no idea the amount of work this life would require. I am not complaining but hoping to paint the full picture for anyone considering. It is hard work and despite your girlfriend's parents' opinion of it: it is work. Painstaking hours going over your craft, your content and all the way, trying to find the enjoyment that brought you here.
By no means, do I want to complain. This year has been busy and I am grateful. I am ready for a bit of time off around new years. The key for me is to continue moving and being productive, albeit at my pace. I am hard on myself by reputation, I am working on easing up. Maybe as I age that will become easier…
As far as news, I am playing the HIFI this week with Isaac and the Revolvers. I just wrapped up 2 days of sessions with Kelli and the guys working on 8 of her songs. A few gigs here and there before Vegas with Ward and Cody. New Years will be in Nashville this year at 3rd and Lindsley.
Cheers to finding a third wind and finishing out the year strong! I am grateful for all that I have worked with this year. I am blessed through my transparency
